REVA Medical Director Deploys to Military Training Mission

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Dr. David A. Farcy, REVA’s new medical director, joined members of the Florida Advanced Surgical & Transport team in a 4-day US Department of Defense training mission to Fort McCoy, Wisconsin.

Titled “Patriot Warrior/Global Medic,” the exercise allowed FAST team to join military medicine specialists from around the world to practice providing combat and critical-care medicine in an austere environment. Part of the exercise involved FAST team setting up their 10-bed mobile ICU, which they did in 58 minutes.

Military medical specialists then worked in the mobile ICU using the REVA SimMan medical simulation manikin in acute-care scenarios devised by Dr. Farcy. Pictured here, members of the UK aero-medical evacuation team run a critical-care scenario using the REVA SimMan.

We are very appreciative of REVA’s commitment to high-quality medical training in allowing us to deploy with their SimMan, Steve Williams, RN, FAST Team Commander.

FAST team is a critical-care transport team that is part of the State of Florida, State Medical Response System. The SMRS is designed to provide expert medical care and medical “surge” in a disaster, such as a large hurricane. Dr. David Farcy, Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine and Medical Director of the Surgical Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, is one of the FAST team senior clinical staff and now recently appointed medical director of REVA, Inc., provider of air-ambulance services.
